Particle movement: A cognitive and functional approach*
نویسنده
چکیده
The aim of this article is to provide an account of one instance of grammatical or con®gurational variation, namely ``particle movement''. While in traditional grammarians' works a variety of factors were claimed to in ̄uence the choice of one word order over another, in the transformational generative paradigm, factors other than syntactic ones were, on the whole, neglected. In more recent functionalist accounts, however, Cumming (1982) and Chen (1986) have shown that an analysis of ``particle movement'' bene®ts from also considering pragmatic factors. In this article, drawing on the work by Deane (1992: 199±205), I shall formulate a hypothesis under which all of the factors so far investigated can be subsumed. Second, I will show that the results of a corpus analysis and a survey conducted with native speakers of British English support this main hypothesis. Lastly, I will propose an explanation of the distributional data in terms of processing requirements.

Purpose: Neck pain is one of the most common problems in human societies. There are many factors involved in the etiology of neck pain, and cognitive problems related to pain are among the most important factors involved for non-specific neck pain. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of six weeks of functional cognitive training on the pain intensity, disability and Kinesiophob...

متن کاملHierarchical Functional Concepts for Knowledge Transfer among Reinforcement Learning Agents
This article introduces the notions of functional space and concept as a way of knowledge representation and abstraction for Reinforcement Learning agents. These definitions are used as a tool of knowledge transfer among agents. The agents are assumed to be heterogeneous; they have different state spaces but share a same dynamic, reward and action space. In other words, the agents are assumed t...

Spatial planning approaches along with complication of societies are being changed.
